Life in the Bronx So you have moved to the Bronx. For many of you it will be your first time in New York. Moving to a new place is always frightening. We will try our best to allay some of you fears. We know that once you told your family and friends that you were coming to the Bronx, you met mixed reactions. “Oh, isn’t that dangerous.” “How ‘bout them Yankees.” “Isn’t that where the mafia is?” Opinions vary about the overall safety of the Bronx. You’ll find that the Morris Park area is not that bad. We would like to help you settle in and get acquainted with this area. You’ll be here for the next few years so you might as well get comfortable. Many of you are from New York or nearby New Jersey. You’ll know where to get stuff to make your transition into Einstein a little easier. We urge you to help your fellow classmates. Some of the 2nd years know what it’s like to move to the Bronx from far away. We sympathize with the Californians who come out here with suitcases filled with shorts and flip flops. We’ve heard all about the students from Wyoming, Wisconsin, Indiana, and Ohio that can’t get used to the humidity, but definitely know all about winter. If you need help, just ask. Welcome to the Bronx and get ready for a new experience.
